The timepiece is a beauty, without doubt and pretty close to my heart due to its relevance.
But I’d like to talk about something different here. Assigning value to watches can be tough, specially when people have become comfortable with gadgets and smartwatches on their wrists.
I like to think of horology as art. Beautiful things that come together after considerable effort, time and skill. People buy art pieces for a lot of different reasons, and all they do is put it up and admire it.
The art of watches takes you a step further, it lets you carry it, show it around and complement your looks. Each complication, each feature, each color combination is a different vibe in itself, and that’s how you enjoy and admire different watches.
If you’re still asking yourself the question as to why people spend so heavily on these, then you’re probably in the wrong place. There’s no objective answer to this, cost is trivial.
Buying, collecting & wearing watches is a an experience. I’m glad we have a small community who understands and communicates that.
